If you’re the type who looks to get the most out of your trips, then you probably try to experience things from a native’s perspective. Thai farmers have practiced traditional farming for hundred of years and Vanich Farm is a new agritourism spot located on 45 Rais or around 72,000 sqm of land in the heart of Phuket Town. It is my first farm visit on the Andaman island and the experience was fantastic. It is truly a unique place – if you like going back to basic. It is once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience a Day in the Life of a Thai Rice Farmer.
Set in a rural setting, the farm offers visitors hands-on experience in traditional Thai farming where techniques are handed from father to son. Visitors whether adults or children will enjoy learning about culture and lifestyle of Thai farmers along with their machinery and equipment starting from the past till today. Some other interesting activities here include rice planting, bathing buffaloes and organic corn farming. Do you remember the song “Planting Rice Is Never Fun” ? Now I get it. I have always loved the taste of sweet corn, especially when it was freshly harvested from the field. One must try the corn milk produced by Vanich Farm, simply delicious and healthy. Nothing goes to waste in the corn milk process. A Taste of Thailand can be found in the Thai herbs garden. The restaurant menu features a fresh array of home-grown favourites and local produce, such as all natural, salted duck eggs.
The kids will love all the activities with the animals such as feeding rabbits, sheep and dwarf cow. The workers are very passionate about the animals and making the experience worthwhile. Modern life is killing children and I really recommend a visit to Vanich Farm for all parents with young children. It is also a good place for team building activities. Phuket has a lot more to offer its visitors other than its natural heritage, sea, sand, sky, beach, forest, and world-renowned diving sites. A day at Vanich Farm will leave you with many unforgettable memories! Imagine seeing the sun set over a field of corn…
